West Kelowna, BC
Currently scheduled for First and Second Reading (October 12, 2010), Shannon Bluffs is a proposed master plan infill neighbourhood in West Kelowna. Surrounded by existing single family residential, the 5.2 ha site will provide 154 new residential units, of which 129 are congregate care units, 21 are single-detached units and the remaining 4 are semi-detached units. Senior assisted units provide housing options for Shannon Lake residents, allowing people to age in place without leaving their neighbourhood. A large portion of natural space is preserved, fostering habitat for indigenous species and maintaining the natural character of the area. A small botanical garden and gentle pedestrian pathway enhance the quality of life and sense of place for residents. Design features include extensive site design to minimize the hillside cut and engineering fill, in addition to managing stormwater post development levels to pre-development levels.
